SCNM Alumnus Dr. Tonyelle Russell is a practicing naturopathic medical doctor in the District of Columbia as well as the President of the International Naturopathic Medical Association. Dr. Russell graduated from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in 2013. While enrolled at SCNM, she engaged in research in conjunction with Arizona State University’s Bio-Design Institute. Upon graduating, Dr. Russell completed an extensive preceptorship in both Paradise Valley and Scottsdale, Arizona with Integrative Health under the tutelage of Dr. Alan Christianson as well as Regency Medical with Dr. Carl Sonder. Dr. Russell has experience and training in bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, treating metabolic syndrome, thyroid disease, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, heart disease, autoimmune disorders, traditional Chinese medicine and all internal medicine with emphasis in endocrinology.
During her tenure, she established two extraordinarily viable practices, emphasizing total hormone solutions for men and women in all ranges of their adult life. She specializes in helping patients meet their optimal health and wellness goals including weight loss, increasing energy, disease prevention, optimal thyroid function, increasing athletic performance for patients active in a number of sports, optimal cardiovascular function, creating optimal hormonal balance–to assist patients in living their healthiest lives ever. Dr. Russell enjoyed being the first mixed heritage woman SGA President of Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and building a team of awesome scientists who helped hundreds of students achieve their goals. Prior to this, she served a two-term tenure on the Grand Valley State University Alumni Association Board of Directors. Dr. Russell is also an phenomenal researcher and published author many times over.
Most recently, Dr. Russell was a featured speaker at the 2015 Global Summit on Herbals and Natural Remedies, organized by the OMICS Group Journals in Chicago, Illinois. The conference featured high profile speakers and research ranging from herbal medicine importance and usage, herbals in cancer therapy, to that of pathophysiology and rational treatment associated with this field.
