Third year SCNM student Gaynel Nave always knew that she wanted to be a physician, but she was discouraged by the fact that traditional medicine failed to treat the person as a whole. She found this to be especially true when it came to mental health. She stated, "When I found out about naturopathic medicine, I said awesome! Here is the name for what I wanted to do." She wants people to know that they can be empowered as patients and seen as more than just their symptoms.
Gaynel is also passionate about music and has previously sang in her church choir. She believes it is a great way to improve your emotional health. She told us, "Music is this beautiful thing that connects to your soul and helps you to relax."
